Hey!!!! I got accepted into the Naval Academy Summer STEM today!!!!! I got the confirmation email!!!!

Omg!!!!!!. I didn't know that Montfort Point is now Camp Johnson. I was there in 1987. I was marching near the Jacksonville gate. I saw the Montfots Point sign. I asked my boxing coach Sgt. Michael who they were. He told me and it damn near brought tears to my eyes. I immediately became so proud of them. My feelings were hurt because never in bootcamp were we told about these amazing men!!!!!!. Since then I've learned as much as I could about them. I salute you Devil Dogs. You all paved the way for us and we thank you. Semper Fidelis❤

I wish, I wanna be Marine like Montfort Point Marines

I know the camp is one week but I am wondering what the GPA requirements are for high school freshman.

My grandfather was part of that First Wave of United States Marines who trained and earned that title. I appreciate the sacrifice of all those men who chose that decision to show that they can do that job as well as any white man. GOD bless us all.,

As a black Marine Sergeant that was a Staff Sergeant selectee in 1990, I attended the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy in Jacksonville, NC. at Camp Johnson/Montoford Point, and let me tell you all, that when I realized where I was, I could just see in my minds eye all the black Marine Recruits that walked the hallowed grounds of that base, to be in the bathroom facility/head building, just imagining what they may have been discussing, knowing they were headed to the South Pacific, to fight in all the Marine Corps Island hopping campaigns. Racist history hasn't come clean on it yet, but the Montoford Point Marine field artillery units, were quite proficient at what they were called to do, saving countless lives in the process............🪖🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🪖

Former (male) Midshipman here. This is absolutely ridiculous. Some of these "styles" if worn by a Submariner would result in the need for a "GI Shower". Can male Midshipmen have pony tails, buns, etc? *s/ Retired 24 Year US Navy Submariner - USNA Class of 1965 - Former Enlisted Man*
